We are seeking an Electronics Engineering Technician to join our growing team. In this role you will design, install and service the electronic systems that keep our clients' homes and businesses safe and connected — including CCTV, intruder and fire alarms, access control, intercom and low-voltage control systems. You will combine bench-level diagnostic skills with on-site installation work and customer-facing handovers.
Key responsibilities
- Install, configure and commission CCTV, alarm, access control and intercom systems.
- Diagnose and repair faults on electronic boards, controllers, sensors and networked devices.
- Terminate and test low-voltage cabling (Cat6, coaxial, fibre patch leads) to industry standards.
- Set up IP-based devices, recorders (NVR/DVR) and remote monitoring access for clients.
- Carry out preventative maintenance and firmware updates on installed systems.
- Document installations with as-built drawings, test results and user handover guides.
- Provide on-site and remote technical support to clients and field electricians.
- Adhere to all health and safety procedures on customer sites and in the workshop.
Requirements
- 5+ years of relevant industry experience, or a relevant tertiary degree/diploma.
- Practical experience with CCTV, alarm or low-voltage electronic systems.
- Working knowledge of IP networking (TCP/IP, switches, basic routing) for security devices.
- Comfortable using multimeters, oscilloscopes and network testing tools.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
- Clean Class 1 driver's licence and the right to work in New Zealand.
Nice to have
- Experience with brands such as Hikvision, Dahua, Paradox, Inner Range or Bosch.
- Familiarity with NZS 4512 (fire alarm) and AS/NZS 2201 (intruder alarm) standards.
- EWRB registration or willingness to obtain it.
- PSPLA Certificate of Approval for security work (or willing to apply).
